The Thomas Paine Project

"Common Sense for Uncommon Times"
Divergent Views Coming Together For Real Solutions

Welcome

The Thomas Paine project is named after the revolutionary patriot and author of the works "Common Sense" and "Rights of Man". It is in his example that we bring together people of divergent viewpoints to identify, discuss, and work towards the resolution of the challenges facing America today.

Political discourse in this country has fallen from reasoned debate into childish name-calling and yelling down the opposition. This may have been entertaining for a period, but now has crippled the ability of those elected to represent us in government to do the people's business. We seek to bring together ordinary citizens who share in the concerns of our country, and to tap the common sense of the people to bring about positive change. The discussions take place in small groups in living rooms and across tables all over the country. The ideas that spring from those discussions are then shared here - in both the policy papers, and the blog discussions.

The Thomas Paine Project is absolutely non-partisan, and comments only on ideas and policies - not on individuals. We endorse no party or candidate for elected or appointed office. We hope only to bring reason and "Common Sense" back into fashion.

Thank you for your participation.
